5I went to a masquerade, darling.   Aug 25, 2008
To begin with this is one of my all time favorite films, classic, adorable and always entertaining time and time again.

It's easy to fall into the story, Ginger Rogers is just delightful as Susan Applegate and Ray Milland is charming as 'Uncle Phillip'. (I could only wish to be so lucky with the strangers I encounter whilst traveling)

The strange and unusual situation is just hilarious(and perhaps at times a bit creepy? Though obviously I seem to like it!) Watching 'little sue-sue' court hoards of underage boys kills me every-time, not to mention how easy it is to forget that little sue-sue is indeed Ginger Rogers.

Although I wish the ending had just a bit more, well explaining, it's a perfect piece of Classic 40's cinema.

5The Major and the Minor is a wonderful movie  Aug 18, 2008
The Major and the Minor has long been a favorite of the entire family. Our VHS was worn out from repeated viewing and so having the film on DVD is wonderful. Ginger Rodgers finds out that working in the big city is not all it is cracked up to be. She decides to return home but discovers she lacks sufficient funds to return home. She opts to dress and pretend to be a child because children can ride the train for half fare. The result is a series of humorous events and circumstances that will bring many a smile. Ray Milland is a charming leading man as he helps the young "SueSue,"get home to her mother. An endearing classic.

4"What Did Happen Between New York And Stevenson?"  Aug 15, 2008
'The Major and the Minor' is a sweet, innocent, light-hearted comedy romance that could only come out of the '40's ('42 to be exact). The storyline will keep the audience amused from beginning to end, the cast is stellar and Ray Milland and Ginger Rogers have more than enough chemistry and good looks to please both sexual persuasions.

However to make this plot work for the viewer one must be willing to suspend reality and accept the possibility that a group of intelligent, adults can be deceived into believing that a 31 year old woman (Ginger Rogers) is a twelve year-old girl. If you can do that you'll surely enjoy this movie from the Golden Age of Hollywood.

5Ginger All the Way  Aug 13, 2008
The Major and the Minor has long been one of my favorite films. Ginger Rogers is absolutely perfect in this comedy about a girl who doesn't have enough money to go back home after trying life in the Big Apple. I feel that because this was made in the early 40s, many women/girls, must have identified with the main character's situation. I think that they must have wished they could have met someone as attractive and debonair as Ray Milland someway, somehow. Billy Wilder started his brilliant directorial career with this film. It is recommended for the whole family and I feel that it will always remain a classic film comedy. The military cadets are pretty good too.

5Best romantic comedy!  Aug 11, 2008
I have loved this movie since I was a little girl. I'm so glad it's on DVD now.

It is just too funny and too sweet. I love the whole idea of the disguised stowaway being rescued by the handsome unknowing hero. The chemistry between Rogers and Milland is superb, and the way Ginger Rogers pulls off the whole "I'm 12" bit is hilarious. A laugh riot with a feel-good storybook ending. They just don't make them like this anymore. I love the classics!
